The winery is located in the municipality of Escherndorf (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. It was built up from 1979 onwards by Helga and Rainer Sauer. After a year of internship in California and studies in Geisenheim, the oenologist Daniel Sauer (son) is responsible for the cellar. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites Fürstenberg and Lump (Escherndorf) as well as Sonnenberg (Untereisenheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner (60% of the area), Müller-Thurgau (20%), Riesling, Traminer, Kerner and Pinot Blanc, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Domina and Blauer Portugieser. Part of the land (4 ha) is farmed biodynamically.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
