The white grape variety originates from Ukraine. Synonyms are Sarah Pandas, Sari Pandas and Sary Pandasse. The parentage is unknown. It is an all-female grape variety. The late-ripening, frost-hardy vine has berries rich in sugar. It produces amber-coloured, spicy white wines. The variety was already mentioned in 1803. It is mainly cultivated in the Sudak area in the Crimea and is mainly used for sweet dessert wines, for example by the Solnechnaya Dolina (Sun Valley) winery. Further stocks are also said to exist in Russia. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
