Santa Magdalena

The white grape variety originates from Spain. Synonyms are Albana, Cencibel de la Mancha, Forenses, Laeren del Ray, Lairén, Layrenes, Magdalena, Malvar, Temprana, Temprana Agosteña, Tempranilla, Tempranilla Blanca, Tempranillo Blanco, Tempranillo de la Rioja and Tinto Fino. It must not be confused with the varieties Lairén (synonym Temprana Agosteña) or Tempranillo Blanco (colour mutation of Tempranillo) because of the synonyms or morphological similarities. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it is a presumably natural cross between Planta Fina de Pedralba (Damaschino) x Legiruela (see Prié). No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
