San Pedro

The company "San Pedro Vineyards & Winery" is one of the oldest and largest wineries in Chile. It was founded in 1865 by the brothers Bonifacio and José Gregorio Correa. In 1994 it was taken over by the Chilean beverage company "Compañía Cervecerías Unidas", with the German brewery "Paulaner" holding the majority. The vineyards in the Curicó and Maipo areas cover 1,200 hectares. The simple varietal wines are marketed under the "Gato" label. Other lines are "1865" and "35 South". The premium lines are "Castillo de Molina" and "Cabo de Hornas", the flagship is the "Cabo de Hornas Cabernet Sauvignon". In the 1970s the winery "Santa Helena" was bought. Wines are marketed there under the labels "Gran Viño", "Siglo de Oro" and "Selección del Directorio". A new winery was built in Molina. The oenologist Jacques Lurton acts as a consultant.
