The winery "Salomon Fritz - Gut Oberstockstall" is located in the municipality of Oberstockstall in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wagram. For several centuries, the estate was the parish farm of the Passau priests of Kirchberg am Wagram. It was secularised in 1803 and came into the possession of the Krems wine merchant family Salomon in 1864. In 1970, the estate was taken over by Fritz Salomon sr. Until 1977, the estate remained a dependency of the Salomon Undhof in Stein/Donau. On his mother's side, the current owner Fritz Salomon jr. descends from the Jamek winegrowing family in the Wachau. He discovered the world's most important alchemist's find by chance in the Gothic chapel in 1980. It was the inventory of an alchemical-metallurgical laboratory from the middle of the 16th century. In 1986, the former servants' quarters of the castle were converted into a gourmet restaurant run by Matthias Salomon. The winery has been run by Fritz Salomon jr. since 1990.
