The appellation applies to sweet white wines made from noble sweet grapes of the Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle varieties. The red wines are produced as simple appellation Bordeaux. Well-known wineries include Château Bel Air, Château du Mont, Château La Grave, Château La Rame and Château Lousteau-Vieil.
