Saering

One of the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. It was first mentioned in documents in 1250, and since 1830 the wines have been marketed under the name of the site. If there were a Premier Cru Classé, it would deserve Saering. The vineyards cover 27 hectares on siliceous clay marl soil in the municipality of Guebwiller. They are mainly planted with Riesling, as well as Muscat Blanc, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris. Well-known producers are Dirler-Cadé, Joseph Loberger, Eric Rominter and Domaines Schlumberger.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
