Single vineyard in the municipality of Rüdesheim at the Rüdesheimer Berg in the German wine-growing region Rheingau. The name goes back directly to a donation made between 1031 and 1051 by the archbishop of Mainz, Bardo, with which he gave the vintners of Rüdesheim and Eibing fallow land for clearing (reuten, rotten, roden = to clear) with which the viticultural use by planting vines became possible.
