Rubintos

The red grape variety (also CS 162) is a new variety between Kadarka x Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch). The cross was made in Hungary in 1951 by the breeder Pál Kozma. The plant variety protection was granted in 1980. The late ripening vine is moderately sensitive to winter frost, but resistant to botrytis. It produces colourful, spicy and tannin-rich red wines. The variety is cultivated in Northern Hungary mainly in the Mátraalja area. In 2016, a total of 13 hectares of vineyards were designated (statistics Kym Anderson).
