The red grape variety (also Ruby of Golodryga) is an interspecific new breeding between Rubinovy Magaracha x Magarach 6-68-27 (Ravat Blanc x Asian Pollen). It contains genes from Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1974 in Yalta in the Ukraine by the breeders P. Golodriga, M. Kostik and V. Yurchenko. The medium-maturing vine is generally resistant to diseases and extremely frost-resistant to minus 26 °Celsius. It yields dark-coloured red wines. In 2016, 82 hectares were designated in Russia (Kym Anderson statistics).
As honorary chairman of the Domäne Wachau, it is the easiest and quickest way for me to access the wein.plus encyclopaedia when I have questions. The certainty of receiving well-founded and up-to-date information here makes it an indispensable guide.
