The red grape variety (also BRS Rúbea) is an interspecific new variety between Niagara Branca (Niagara) x Ives (Bordô). It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1965 at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Agency in Brazil. It was a crossing partner of the new varieties Carmem, Cora, Magna and Violeta. The vine produces wines with a foxtone. In 2016, 181 hectares of vineyard were designated here (Kym Anderson).
As honorary chairman of the Domäne Wachau, it is the easiest and quickest way for me to access the wein.plus encyclopaedia when I have questions. The certainty of receiving well-founded and up-to-date information here makes it an indispensable guide.
