The white grape variety (breeding number Badacsony 36) is a new cross between Kéknyelű x Budai Zöld. The cross was made in 1957 in Hungary by grower Ferenc Kiraly. The early-maturing vine is relatively resistant to powdery and downy mildew, but sensitive to botrytis. It produces fruity white wines with a balanced acidity structure. The variety is cultivated in the Badacsony and Balaton-felvidék areas of Hungary. In 2020, 17 hectares of vineyards were designated (statistics from the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
