Roussin de Morgex

The grape variety with red berries originates from the border region Italy/Switzerland. The parentage is unknown (ex VIVC catalogue). According to DNA analyses carried out in 2005, there is a close genetic link to the Prié variety, but not (as might be assumed) to the Roussin variety (ex Wine Grapes). In Switzerland, the variety is categorised as an Old Growth grape variety. It is now only cultivated in small quantities in the Italian Aosta Valley in the eponymous municipality of Morgex. However, no stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
