Rote Halde

single vineyard in the municipality of Sasbach (Kaiserstuhl area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. The vineyards, which face north-east in terraces, on the Lützelberg from north-west to north-east, and predominantly south, with slopes ranging from 10 to 40%, cover 53 hectares of vineyards on volcanic weathered soils with reddish silicate rock, tuff and loess. Here, mainly Burgundy varieties are cultivated. Shares in the site are held, for example, by member wineries of the Sasbach winegrowers' cooperative.
