The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Vitis Rupestris Scheele x Jaeger 70 (Munson). Synonyms are Fracuska Loza, Francuz, Francuz Seibel and Seibel 1000. It contains genes of Vitis aestivalis and Vitis rupestris. The basic crossing of the hybrid was done by Eugène Contassot in France; the breeding material produced was then later selected by Albert Seibel (1844-1936) and the variety was completed. The vine was a crossing partner of the two new American varieties La Crosse and St. Pepin. Rosette is also a synonym for the Portuguese variety Rufete.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
