The winery is located in the municipality of Gols in the Burgenland wine-growing region Neusiedlersee (Austria). It was established by the Schmelzer family. In 1994, Lorenz Schmelzer III handed over the business to his niece Elisabeth Rommer (née Nittnaus), who manages it together with her husband Michael. In 1995, some vineyard facilities and arable land were transferred as inheritance from the Nittnaus family home. The vineyards cover nine hectares of vine area in the sites Altenberg, Baumgarten, Edelgründe, Goldberg, Heideboden, Hintenäußer Äcker, Hochäcker, Lange Satz, Schmalgründe, Ungerberg, Wiesäcker, and Zwickeläcker.
