Rojal Tinta

The red grape variety originates from Spain. Synonyms are De Rosa, Rojal and Royal. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2021, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Breval Negro x an unknown parent variety. Direct descendants are the two varieties Danugue and Planta Nova. The vine should not be confused with the Jami Negro variety (with the synonym Royal Tinta). It is cultivated in the Castilla-La Mancha region. In 2016, 736 hectares of vineyards were designated with a strong downward trend (Kym Anderson statistics).
