The winery is located in the municipality of Weinolsheim (Nierstein area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The traditional family has been growing grapes here since 1625. Since 1994, the winery has been run by Eckehart and Angela Gröhl, the 12th generation of the family. In 2003, a new wine press house with a white wine and red wine cellar of a high quality standard was put into operation. A vinotheque is attached. The vineyards cover 20 hectares, mostly in the area of the Rhine front. They are cultivated in the single vineyards Hohberg and Kehr (Weinolsheim), Bergkirche, Hölle and Pettenthal (Nierstein), Kranzberg (Dalheim), Aulenberg (Uelversheim), as well as Herrenberg, Sackträger and in sole ownership Schützenhütte (Oppenheim).
