DOC area for white wines and red wines in the Italian region of Liguria. The large zone encompasses the geographical coastal region as part of the Italian Riviera on the Gulf of Genoa on the Ligurian Sea. It extends west of Genoa to the French border at Ventimiglia. The zone includes the largest western part with the provinces of Genoa (2 municipalities), Imperia (67 municipalities) and Savona (46 municipalities). If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna can be indicated followed by the name of the vineyard.
There are five subzones: Albenganese with 19 municipalities, Riviera dei Fiori with 37 municipalities (around half of the province of Imperia), Finalese with 17 municipalities, Quiliano with 3 municipalities and Taggia with 13 municipalities. The subzones are listed on the label according to DOC Riviera Ligure di Ponente. The vineyards cover a total of 235 hectares.
