DOC area for red wine, rosé wine and white wine in the Italian region of Lombardy. The zone covers 780 hectares in 32 municipalities. It was classified in 1977 under the name Riviera del Garda Bresciano.
A reorganisation took place in 2011. The area was renamed Riviera del Garda Classico to emphasise the historical "Classico". The formerly independent Garda Classico subzone within the DOC area Garda was also renamed Valtènesi was integrated into the new area. Valtènesi was initially a subzone, but is now an independent DOC area. The rules were also changed: Increasing the vine density, lowering the minimum alcohol content and introducing the Riserva level for Valtènesi red wines.
