This wine was introduced to the market in March 1986 as one of the first profiled regional wines in Germany. The common abbreviation is RS, when written out in full, this is only permitted without a hyphen. It is a regionally typical, classically dry Silvaner from vineyards in the Rheinhessen wine region. The Rheinhessen Silvaner is conceived as a varietal wine and is shaped differently by vintage, climate, location and the art of the winemaker. As the "Renaissance of the Silvaner", it is intended to be a symbol for high-quality wines from the largest Silvaner growing area in the world. With its invigorating fruit acidity, it differs from the broad, earthy Silvaner of the traditional kind. The Rheinhesen Siulvaner is also available as a single-varietal, bottle-fermented winegrower's sparkling wine in the brut flavour.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
