The white grape variety originates from the border region between Italy and Switzerland. Synonyms are Blanc de l'Eveque, Blanc de Maurienne, Gelber Rèze, Petit Prié Tardif, Rees, Regis, Rese Verte, Resi (2nd main name), Rèze Blanc, Rèze Blanche, Rèze Jaune, Rèze Verte and Rèzi. A distinction is sometimes made between Grosse Réze and Petite Rèze according to berry size.
