This red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Hunt x Magnolia. Synonyms or breeding numbers are NC 153-1 and North Carolina 153-1. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca, Vitis rotundifolia and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1957 in the US state of North Carolina by the breeder C. F. Williams. The variety is used as a wine grape variety and table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
