Refosco di Faedis

The red grape variety originates from Italy (Friuli) and belongs to the large Refosco name group. Synonyms are Malvoise, Mariabino, Refosco, Refosco di Ronchis, Refosco di Runcis, Refosco Grosso, Refosco Nostrano, Refoscone, Refiscono and Refosco Runcis. Despite seemingly suggestive synonyms or morphological similarities, it must not be confused with the variety Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso (synonym Refosco Nostrano) or the variety Terrano, which is directly descended from it. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2005, there is a parent-offspring relationship with the varieties Tazzelenghe and Refosco di Rauscedo. The late-ripening vine produces red wines with high acidity and tannins.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
