Rayada Melonera

This red grape variety comes from the Iberian Peninsula. The name means "striped melonera". Synonyms are Albaranzeuli Variegato, Barrete de Clerigo, Barrete de Padre, Bonnet de Retord, Corropio, Melonera, Negra Rayada, Rayada, Riscadinha, Ruyada and Tinta Riscadinha. The parentage is unknown. It is used as a winepress and table grape. The variety is cultivated in small quantities in Portugal under the name Corropio in the Alentejo area, as well as in the Centro and Norte regions. There are also small stocks in Spain in the Madrid region under Rayada Melonera. In 2016, one hectare of vineyard was designated in Portugal (Kym Anderson statistics).
