The "Rabl - Kamptal Winery" is located in the wine town of Langenlois in the wine-growing region of Kamptal(Lower Austria). It was mentioned in wine-growing documents as early as 1750. The winery was taken over by Rudolf Rabl sen. in 1975, son Rudolf jun. joined the business in 1986, showing responsibility for vinification. The vineyards cover 80 hectares in the Käferberg, Kittmannsberg, Liss, Schenkenbichl, Spiegel, Steinhaus, Steinmassl and Weißes Kreuz vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Welschriesling, Frühroter Veltliner,Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Rivaner (Müller-Thurgau), Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller and Traminer, as well as with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blauburger, St. Laur ent, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir. The vineyards are cultivated according to the KIP (Controlled Integrated Production) guidelines. Quality criteria are short pruning, careful, vine-specific foliage work for better exposure to sunlight and ventilation, and yield reduction through thinning.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
