Separate municipal area in the Départements of Drôme and Vaucluse in the southern French appellation Côtes du Rhône-Villages (see the AOC regulations there) Since 2005, the name may also be mentioned on the label for red wines. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 220 to 600 metres above sea level and comprise 130 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Merindol les Oliviers and Mollans sur Ouveze (Drôme), as well as Faucon, Saint Romain en Viennois and the eponymous Puymeras (Vaucluse). Some rows of olive and fruit trees between the vineyards bear witness to a once diverse cultivation, which, apart from the vines, was destroyed by the extreme frost in 1956.
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
