pure tone

A description (also pure, clean) for a wine in the context of a wine review or wine evaluation that is completely free of extraneous or off-flavours. The term is to be understood in context, it can refer to the smell, taste and/or colour or appearance of a wine and usually also has a positive effect on the structure. Related terms are clear. Opposite terms with negative connotations are artificial (artificial), diseased and impure.
