The winery is located in the municipality of Obernalb near Retz in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. It has been in the family since 1771. Today the winery is owned by Johann and Roswitha Pröglhöf, son Markus is the responsible cellar master. The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vineyards in the vineyards Graben, Holzwege, Sonnleite and Speiser (Obermarkersdorf) on the slopes of the Manhartsberg. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Malvasier (Frühroter Veltliner) and Chardonnay, as well as the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blauburger, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised. The grapes are processed as gently as possible in order to emphasise the typicality and character of the grape varieties. The white wines are matured in steel tanks. The red wines mature classically in large wooden barrels or in barrique. The premium wines include Weinviertel DAC (Grüner Veltliner), Grüner Veltliner Speiser, the red wine cuvée "Manhartsberg" (Zweigelt, Blauburger, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) and Zweigelt Exclusive. In appropriate years, an ice wine is also pressed. The winery is a member of the Retzer Land Winegrowers' Association.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
