Private

An additional term used in many countries around the world to designate higher quality wines. However, it has no meaning in terms of wine law. Mostly it refers to a selection of special sites and/or grapes. The term is also frequently used in combination with other terms. These are for example Private Bin, Private Reserve or Private Selection. See also Reserve.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
