Primus (wine)

Name used in Austria under wine law (lat. primus = the first) for regional wines and quality wines. In addition to "Primus", the terms "Primaner", "Erster", "Der Erste", "Der Junge", "Der junge ...", "Der Neue" and "... Junker" may also be used. The wines so designated must be placed on the market no later than 30 April (31 March was valid until 2017) of the year following the harvest. See also under Jungwein and Junker.
