Well-known wine-growing community in the Carnuntum wine-growing region of Lower Austria on the border with northern Burgenland. To the northwest, Petronell-Carnuntum with its world-famous excavations from Roman times is in close proximity. The sunny southern slopes of the Spitzerberg south of Hainburg form a small red wine island. Around 30% of the 200 hectares of vineyards are planted with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt. The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling and Weißburgunder dominate. The cellars are a novelty, because they were not dug into the depths, but are hills covered with earth and grass. A very beautiful cellar alley is the "Holzweg". There is a 1.5-kilometre-long educational wine trail with a grape variety garden. Well-known wineries in the municipality are, for example, Josef Dietrich, the Gratzer-Sandriester family, Peter Mitterer, Anton Sandriester and Walter Widler.
