Well-known wine-growing community in the Lower Austrian wine region of Carnuntum on the border to northern Burgenland. To the north-west is Petronell-Carnuntum with its world-famous excavations from Roman times. The sunny southern slopes of the Spitzerberg south of Hainburg form a small red wine island. On the approximately 200 hectares of vineyards, about 30% are planted with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt. The white wine varieties are dominated by Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling and Pinot Blanc. The cellars are a novelty, because they were not dug into the depths, but are hills covered with earth and grass. A very beautiful cellar lane is the "Holzweg". There is a 1.5 kilometre long wine trail with a grape variety garden. Well-known wineries of the community are for example Josef Dietrich, family Gratzer-Sandriester, Peter Mitterer, Anton Sandriester and Walter Widler.
