Praelatenberg

One of the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. It was already mentioned in 823 and belonged at that time to the prelates of the Abbey of Ebersmunster. The vineyards cover 19 hectares of vines on heavy, siliceous soil in the two communes of Kintzheim and Orschwiller. They are equally suitable for the Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Muscat Blanc varieties. Well-known producers are Jean Becker, Domaines Engel Frères and Domaine Siffert.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
