Potted Vines

Designation for grafted vines (also called carton vines) which, unlike those produced in a nursery, can still be produced and marketed in the year of grafting. The reason for this form was the frequent failures of freshly trained and still very sensitive vines due to bad weather and soil conditions. The potted vine method enables the production of ready-to-plant vines under controlled climatic conditions in greenhouses or foil houses without so-called schooling. In contrast to the vine nursery method, where the vines are only available in the year after grafting, potted vines can be marketed as early as two months after grafting.
