Pot Lyonnais

Special serving bottle for wine named after the historical province of Lyonnais (Liyonês) in the French department of the Rhône (with the appellation Beaujolais). Originally it was a unit of measurement used from the 16th century onwards, with a volume of 1.08 or 1.04 and then in 1843 it was legally defined as 0.46 litres. The bottle has a particularly thick glass base, which allows the bottle, which was previously cooled in an icebox, to be kept cool on the table for a long time. It is available in two sizes: 0.46 and 0.25 litres. However, as this does not comply with any EU standard, it is not possible to market them in these bottles. The serving bottle is still used in Lyonnais today, mainly for serving Beaujolais of a simpler quality.
