Polz pine

The winery is located in the municipality of Spielfeld-Grassnitzberg in the Austrian wine growing region of Southern Styria. Already in the 1960s, the parents of today's owner Armin Polz oriented the former mixed farming operation towards quality viticulture. The part of the name pine comes from the grandparents on his mother's side. Armin Polz completed his training at the Silberberg viticultural school. The relationship to wine is documented on the website as follows. "Wine is my vocation, my passion, my life". A Buschenschank and a guest house are connected.

The vineyards cover ten hectares of vines in the areas of Grassnitzberg and Hochgrassnitzberg. They are 90% planted with the white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling, Morillon(Chardonnay), Weißer Burgunder(Pinot Blanc), Gelber Muskateller, Sämling 88(Scheurebe) and Silvaner, the rest with Zweigelt. The planting density is 4,000 vines per hectare. The wines are aged in stainless steel tanks or in traditional large wooden barrels, depending on the type of wine
