The winery is located in the municipality of Montalcino in the Italian region of Tuscany. It was acquired in 1984 by the Milanese banking family Giancarlo and Nuccia Gloder, and since 1987 it has been managed by daughter Paola Gloder Montefiori and her husband Alberto Montefiori. The total estate covers 200 hectares of land with woods, fields, olive groves and vineyards. The latter comprise 32.5 hectares of vineyards, 30 of which are planted with Brunello (Sangiovese) and the rest with Cabernet Sauvignon. Yields are kept very low by a rigorous three-stage process. This is done by selecting the best shoots in spring at flowering, thinning out in July and again selecting the best quality grapes 10 days before the harvest. In addition, only the best grapes or berries are selected again after the grape harvest. The product range includes three different Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino and the IGT Madre. The red wines mature in barrique barrels from Slavonia (Croatia) and 500 litre barrels from France. Around 100,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Grappa and olive oil are also produced.
