The winery is located in the municipality of Radda in Chianti (province of Siena) in the centre of the Chianti-Classico DOCG area in the Italian region of Tuscany. Its origins lie in a 100-hectare estate founded in 1900 by Alessandro Lisini with woods, olive trees and agricultural land. Cattle breeding, olive and wheat cultivation as well as viticulture were practised there. There is also a 900-year-old windmill on the estate, which was completely renovated in 1984 (see picture on the left). The estate was inherited by Giulio Bianchi Bandinelli, who reactivated viticulture in 1970. He sold it to Batya Schwartz and Dieter Mittelsten-Scheid in 1982. Daniele Pianigiani is the cellar master. Flats are also rented out and rooms for seminars are offered.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
