Plonerhof - Erhard & Herta Tutzer

The winery is located in the municipality of Marling (Marlengo) above Merano in the Italian wine-growing area of South Tyrol (Trentino-Alto Adige region). The former fruit farm with apple cultivation was converted into a winery. Guided tours of the vineyard and cellar with subsequent wine tasting are also offered. The owners Herta and Erhard Tutzer also ran a wine nursery for several decades and were able to contribute their rich experience to the conversion. When selecting the grape varieties, the location, the microclimate and the soil conditions were taken into account. The four main varieties are Blauburgunder, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Weißburgunder. The cultivation is carried out in an environmentally friendly, near-natural way. Among other things, fertilization with mineral artificial fertilizers and the use of herbicides are avoided.

Great attention is paid to quality-enhancing yield reduction and processing of healthy, fully ripe grapes through appropriate selection. After the temperature-controlled, slow fermentation, the wine is matured in steel tanks, small and/or large wooden barrels, depending on the type of wine. ZPremium wines are Blauburgunder (5,000 bottles/ha, small and large oak barrel), Sauvignon Blanc Exclusiv (1.20 kg/vine, temperature-controlled wooden barrel) and Riesling (1.20 kg/vine, stainless steel). After bottling, the wines mature for another three months before being marketed. From 30,000 vines, around 30,000 bottles of wine in the upper quality segment are produced. This means that on average, one vine produces one bottle of wine with 0.75 litres. The winery is a member of the Winzervereinigung Freie Weinbauern Südtirol.
