Plan de Dieu

Independent communal area with the four communes of Camaret-sur-Aigues, Jonquières, Travaillan and Violès in the département of Vaucluse in the southern French appellation Côtes du Rhône-Villages (see the AOC regulations there). Since 2005, the name may also be mentioned on the label. Viticulture developed in the Middle Ages under the influence of the Knights Templar, which also led to the construction of many chapels and the founding of religious communities. The vineyards were cultivated under the protection of God, so to speak, from which the name derives. They cover 370 hectares of vineyards on alluvial soil overlain by limestone gravel with clay and sandstone soil.
