The winery is located in the municipality of Kürnbach (Kraichgau area) in the German Baden wine region. The traditional family has a long winegrowing tradition, the ancestor Albert Plag was one of the early winegrowing pioneers of Kürnbach. His son Reinhold then dared to take the successful step from grape farmer to self-marketer in 1982. Today, the company is managed in the third and fourth generation by Werner Plag and his son Philipp. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vine area. They are 70% planted with the red wine varieties Schwarzriesling (40%), Spätburgunder, Lemberger, Dunkelfelder, Cabernet Corsa and Samtrot, and 30% with the white wine varieties Riesling, Weißburgunder, Gewürztraminer and Müller-Thurgau. The wines are marketed in the three lines Estate Wines, Premium Wines and Excellance. Depending on the type, they are aged almost exclusively dry in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or up to 18 months in barriques. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
