The winery is located in the municipality of Wösendorf in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau. It was founded in 1982 with the aim of producing wines from its own grapes. The winery is run by Franz Pichler senior and Franz Pichler junior. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards in the Bachgarten, Gaisberg, Harzenleiten, Höll, Hochrain, Kollmitz, Kollmütz, Marienfeld and Postaller vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling,Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, as well as the red wine variety Zweigelt. The environmentally friendly cultivation is done by hand according to organic principles. This includes the renunciation of herbicides and insecticides, the use of biological preparations and the application of compost to increase the humus content in the soil. The winery has been a member of Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus since 1992, so the product range includes wines of the regional brands Federspiel and Smaragd. A Frizzante is also produced.
