The winery is located in the municipality of Herxheim am Berg (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. The ancestors of the family on the mother's side came here from Tyrol as wood coopers in 1655 after the end of the 30-year war. Today, Gerd and Sigrun Petri are the 12th generation to run the business. Their two sons Maximilian (California) and Philipp (Australia) completed an internship overseas. The vineyards cover 15 hectares in the Himmelreich and Honigsack (Herxheim) and Saumagen (Kallstadt) vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (40%), Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Silvaner, Gewürztraminer and Scheurebe, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Cabernet Cubin, Merlot and Frühburgunder.
