The winery is located in the municipality of Montefalco in the Italian region of Umbria. The name derives from an ancient name for the plough; the double crossed "P" is the symbol of the farm. It is managed by Guido Guardigli, who in the early 1990s, after purchasing land, carried out new plantings and built a modern winery. He is particularly dedicated to the cultivation of the ancient local variety Sagrantino, which was reactivated in the 1960s. The owner is assisted by the oenologist Emiliano Falsini and the cellar technician Alessandro Meniconi. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards planted with the red wine varieties Sagrantino (about half), Sangiovese and Colorino(Colorino del Valdarno), and the white wine varieties Trebbiano Spoletino and Grechetto(Grechetto di Orvieto). In addition, an area of 250 olive trees is cultivated.
As honorary chairman of the Domäne Wachau, it is the easiest and quickest way for me to access the wein.plus encyclopaedia when I have questions. The certainty of receiving well-founded and up-to-date information here makes it an indispensable guide.
