Pergola (DOC)

DOC area for red and rosé wines in the Italian Marche region. The zone includes the municipalities of Fratte Rosa, Frontone, Pergola, San Lorenzo in Campo and Serra Sant'Abbondio in the province of Pesaro. The name derives from the small town of Pergola, on whose hills the Aleatico grape variety was already planted in Pergola cultivation in 1234 and is therefore called Vernaccia di Pergola here

The wines are pressed with a main part of Vernaccia di Pergola (Aleatico). There are the variants Rosso - also as Novello, Superiore and Riserva (60%), Rosato or Rosé - also as Frizzante and Spumante (60%), Aleatico - also as Superiore, Riserva, Spumante and Passito (85%).
