The red grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Camaralet Noir, Fenouille, Pedouille, Pelaouille, Pelouille, Penaouille, Petaouille, Petouille and Pique. It is a parent of the Mourtès variety and closely related to the Camaraou Noir variety. However, the parentage (parentage) is unknown. It used to be cultivated in south-western France, but is no longer important. No stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
