The Sicilian winery in Marsala (province of Trapani) was founded in 1880 by the notary Paolo Pellegrino. The company was founded by Paolo Pellegrino in 1880, making it one of the oldest in the region. His son Carlo Pellegrino continued to run the business; his wife Josephine Despagne, daughter of a French oenologist, also brought wine knowledge into the family. Today, the business is run by several generations of the family.
The vineyards cover around 150 hectares of vineyards in the province of Trapani with areas near Marsala and beyond. This includes the Cantina of Pantelleria, which was opened in 1992 and is primarily used for the production of Pantelleria wines. The local varieties Grillo, Inzolia, Malvasia Bianca, Nero d'Avola and Zibibo (Muscat d'Alexandrie) are cultivated, as well as the international varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Syrah.
