The winery is located in Salvaterra de Miño on the banks of the river Miño in the Spanish DO area
Rías Baixas near the Atlantic coast. It was founded in 1988 and is owned by the "Grupo Vinicola Marqués de Vargas". The company is headed by the aristocrat Marqués de Vargas Pelayo de la Mata. The family also owns the two wineries
Marqués de Vargas (Rioja) and Conde de San Cristóbal (Ribera del Duero). In the early 1990s, a semi-subterranean wine cellar was built in Salvaterra de Miño. The vineyards cover 30 hectares of vineyards on terraced slopes facing the Miño, forming a natural amphitheatre with a southern exposure. Only our own grapes are processed. The vineyard is cultivated in an environmentally friendly manner, for example, without the use of chemical products such as
herbicides and
insecticides. The predominant vine is the white Albariño, other varieties are Lureiro, Treixadura and Torrontés. The temperature-controlled fermentation takes place relatively cool at 17 to 18 °Celsius in stainless steel tanks. After stabilisation and resting phases, the wines are cold treated and filtered. Then, between May and June, the wines are bottled.
