The winery is located in the community of Höflein in the Lower Austrian wine growing region of Carnuntum. It is managed in the fourth family generation by Robert Payr jr. The vineyards comprise 12 hectares of vineyards in the areas of Bühl, Kirchberg and Rothenberg (Höflein), as well as Spitzerberg (Prellenkirchen). They are planted with the red wine varieties Blauer Portugieser (70% of the total area), Zweigelt, BlaufränkischMerlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Goldburger.
The company produces sustainably according to the guidelines of Nachhaltig Austria and is certified in this respect. The cultivation is carried out according to the guidelines of organic viticulture. Through selective manual harvesting in the vineyard and repeated checks in the cellar, only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are processed. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are stored in stainless steel tanks, in large wooden barrels or up to 36 months in barriques.
The flagship of the house is the pure red wine "P1 Höflein" (Blaufränkisch), which is only produced in the best vintages and matures for 36 months in barrique. Other premium wines are the white wine "Rothenberg Grüner Veltliner" and the red wine cuvée "Ried Bühl Höflein Reserve Carnuntum" (Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Merlot). From this large bottles are filled in 1.5 l(Magnum), 3 l (Double Magnum), 6 l(Methusalem), 9 l(Salmanazar), 12 l (Balthazar), 15 l(Nebuchadnezzar) and 18 l(Melchior). In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein are also pressed. Fine spirits(marc, grape, fruit), rosé wines and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. The winery is a member of the two wine associations Rubin Carnuntum Weingüter (president is Robert Payr) and Traditionsweingüter Österreich.
