The red grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Lou Pogai, Paugayen Petit, Petit Paugayen, Pogai, Pogayen and Pougayen. The parentage is unknown. Direct descendants through natural crosses are the varieties Brun Fourca, Feunate, Marsanne de Pays, Mourvaison and Téoulier Noir. It is an all-female grape variety, which is why it is dependent on cross-pollination. No stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
